The school counselor plays an integral part in supporting the wellbeing and development of all students through an inclusive culture that promotes trusting relationships, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging. The school counselor's role is to support the development of social, emotional, and academic skills, mental health wellness, and postgraduate planning for the students at Winchester High School (WHS). This support is provided through individual and group counseling, whole class facilitation, consulting, coordinating, and managing various student needs. The counselor will work closely with students to help them navigate their academic journey while also addressing their emotional and social development. This includes providing resources and learning opportunities to families and guardians to support student learning, wellness, and postgraduate preparation. The counselor is expected to maintain student information systems, collect and present data when applicable, and participate in professional development to remain current with school counseling practices. Consistent and on-time attendance is required, and the counselor will also be responsible for implementing other job-related duties as needed.
