Requirements

  • Registered as an Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
  • Professional architectural experience related to evaluating buildings for code compliance.
  • Architectural experience with healthcare or long-term care facilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly advanced architectural work in planning, design, and implementation of architectural and construction projects.
  • Provide advanced consultative services and leadership functions by guiding specialized professionals.
  • Lead complex long-term care construction inspections and investigate complaints.
  • Conduct annual, required, and initial surveys to determine compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Identify and write deficiencies in accordance with program requirements and make referrals to agencies.
  • Interpret codes, rules, and regulations and prepare guidance letters.
  • Review and approve federal survey reports, train inspection staff, and coordinate travel.
  • Conduct on-site licensure inspections, complaint investigations, and comprehensive surveys.
  • Complete inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies and narrative to support findings.
  • Conduct entrance and exit conferences with facility staff regarding findings.
  • Visit long-term care facilities to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of all reports.
  • Supervise team members during inspections and lend expertise to survey teams.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with others to provide, exchange, or verify information.
  • Coordinate with agency staff conducting health surveys for certification in Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Provide high-level technical architectural assistance and interpretation on policies and standards.
  • Plan and coordinate the design and construction of long-term care facilities.
  • Consult with architects and engineers on architectural and construction plans.
  • Inspect final construction projects.
  • Represent the agency with expert testimony for depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Oversee and conduct field inspections and survey complaint investigations.
  • Facilitate meetings with long-term care facility representatives.
  • Prepare state and federal reports and recommend solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
