As part of a collaborative team of public servants, a Nurse surveyor protects residents’ health and safety by conducting on-site inspections and investigations including investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, in licensed only Texas long-term care settings including all Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Centers (PPECC) statewide, Assisted Living Facilities (ALF), Day Activity and Health Services (DAHS), and DAHS – Individualized Skills and Socialization (DAHS-ISS) to assess their compliance with state and federal laws and rules. In this front-line field position, a surveyor is mobile and flexible and performs minimal work at an office, though the role does require writing reports detailing any deficiencies/violations against a facility, remedies to correct those deficiencies, and narrative to support regulatory determinations.
