As part of a collaborative team of public servants, an ICF/IID surveyor protects residents’ health and safety by conducting on-site inspections and investigations, including investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, in Texas intermediate care facilities to assess their compliance with state and federal laws and rules. Requirements

  • Experience performing quality assurance monitoring, program review, and certification surveys and investigations.
  • Direct experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Must successfully complete state and federal training and become qualified to conduct surveys independently within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (casework) experience in an intermediate care facility or social work experience in a long-term care setting working with persons with intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site licensure inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and annual comprehensive surveys.
  • Investigate abuse, neglect, and exploitation in facilities to determine compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with others to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, or resolve issues or complaints.
  • Conduct exit conferences with facility staff regarding findings and assist in developing a plan to correct deficiencies.
  • Complete inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies, recommended remedies, and narratives to support regulatory findings.
  • Visit long-term care facilities to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others.
  • Occasionally testify at hearings or in court proceedings regarding policy/procedures, history, findings, or activities.
