Gunnison Valley Health Paramedics (GVHP) are seeking a PRN Paramedic to join our team and support our mission of serving the residents and visitors of Gunnison County. GVHP operates three 24/7 ambulances on a 48/96 schedule responding to over 1,600 calls annually. With a response area near 4,400 square miles of both urban and rural geography, our team of providers must be prepared to operate in austere environmental conditions, practicing medicine on extended and remote scenes. Our providers operate under progressive guidelines, delivering industry-leading treatment including pre-hospital blood product administration, mechanical ventilation with Hamilton T1 ventilators and POC lab testing. GVHP also lead and support rescue operations including technical rope rescue, swift water, wildland fire and TEMS. This position is for an incumbent Paramedic LT as a PRN employee. In addition to the General EMS Duties the EMS Lieutenant is a leadership position within the ranking of EMS, otherwise referred to as a “line supervisor”. In this position, the EMS Lieutenant, at the direction of and in collaboration with the Chief and Captain, will assist with the execution of daily operations. Principal responsibilities include implementation and supervision of organization objectives and policies, daily operational readiness and crew assignments. In the absence of or by the direction of the EMS Captain or Chief, the Lieutenant will assume the spectrum of responsibilities of daily EMS operational command. Why Gunnison Valley Health Paramedics? Position Summary The Gunnison Valley Health Paramedic is responsible for directing and working collaboratively with department personnel to provide direct patient care and management of scene logistics. The Paramedic is expected to possess comprehensive knowledge of advanced life support practices, urban and backcountry medicine, all hazards response and interfacility transfers. In the absence of or by direction of the Chief or Captain, the Paramedic will be responsible for the logistical aspects of operations including, but not limited to, ordering of air resources, request for mutual aid and coordinating care with co-responding agencies. The Paramedic is also responsible for prompt patient care documentation and other duties as assigned. In this role, the Paramedic is expected to manage the resources of his/her assigned ambulance and work collaboratively with health care and first responder personnel. As a PRN employee of GVHP, the Paramedic is required to maintain an active role in shift coverage and special events, logging a minimum of 24 hours per month or 288 hours per year.
