About The Position

Several Hourly Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) Vegetation Work Crew (Technical/Support I) positions are available at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii with Colorado State University (CSU) and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). The position conducts soil stabilization and vegetation management activities in support of the LRAM component of the Army’s Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) Program at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, by utilizing light equipment and hand tools such as weed whackers, shovels, root rakes, pick axes, brush axes, and chainsaws. The operation of mowers, straw blowers, tractors, and skid steers may also be required. The work location is located on the US Army Garrison Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in-person at Schofield Barracks, HI. Remote work is not available with this position.
  • A High school Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license throughout the course of employment.
  • At least 6 months of experience with running and maintaining: Handheld power equipment (trimmers, tillers, chainsaws, etc.) Manual tools (shovels, root rakes, pick axes, brush axes etc.) Pickup trucks with and without trailers
  • Physically able to work outdoors and perform strenuous labor under all weather conditions (e.g., heat and humidity).
  • Able to lift 40 pounds repeatedly, without assistance.
  • Be able to follow directions, work collectively with others as a team, and maintain safe working standards.
  • Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by the proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

  • Knowledge and experience necessary to facilitate: Work site revegetation Land clearing Site preparations Soil stabilization
  • Experience with land rehabilitation, horizontal construction techniques, and erosion control practices.
  • Working knowledge and experience working with the Department of the Army or other federal land-management agencies.
