About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide patient care and assist in the delivery of therapy treatments. The role requires adherence to established treatment plans, effective communication with patients and staff, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care. The assistant will be responsible for documenting patient encounters, organizing treatment schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety policies. Flexibility in working hours and a willingness to assist in various capacities are essential for this position.

Requirements

  • Must have completed a formal education program of Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Must hold and maintain a current and valid license by the State of Alabama Board of Physical Therapy as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Maintain CME/CEU education per license requirements and submit to agency annually.
  • Must be capable of performing the job duties of this position.
  • Must be able to relate positively and professionally to patients, families, and outside agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the plan of treatment established by the Physical Therapist.
  • Motivate patients to participate in therapy treatment.
  • Adhere to clinical policies and procedures in the overall delivery of patient care via standards of practice.
  • Fully document encounters in the chart utilizing only standard abbreviations and correct grammar.
  • Communicate effectively within the agency and with supervisors and staff.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist in providing patient care coverage.
  • Organize area and schedule to maximize direct patient care time and meet documentation time frames.
  • Follow facility and agency employee and patient safety policies.
  • Work beyond normal hours when necessary to perform duties effectively.
