Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, responsible for utilizing the nursing process to deliver direct nursing care, using time and resources efficiently. Requirements

  • Knowledge and competency in performing baseline nursing skills.
  • Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
  • Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
  • Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
  • Graduate of an accredited trade or vocational school of nursing.
  • One year relevant experience, new graduates accepted based upon position availability.
  • Current New Mexico Nurse License and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide optimal, direct patient care and demonstrate sound decision-making skills.
  • Communicate patient care needs to all members of the health care team.
  • Contribute effectively to promote timely and efficient patent admission, transfer and discharge including providing appropriate patient education.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the primary care provider.
  • Documents patient status in an accurate, pertinent and concise manner.
  • Assist with updating care plans.
  • Delegate or assign aspects of patient care to health care team members (non-licensed) commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task.
