About The Position

Primary Purpose: To provide prescribed medical treatment to patients, quality nursing care and comfort to patients, while promoting teamwork and to provide proper documentation for billing. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
• Knowledge of disease process
• Medication reaction and interaction
• Medications and treatments
• Techniques of nursing care
• Assessment skills
• Good communication skills
• Proficient computer skills and time management skills
• Technical or vocational school education required
• Current LPN licensure in the state of Missouri or compact licensure to practice in Missouri required
• BLS and NIH certification required within 90 days of hire
• Annual stroke education hours per hospital policy
• NVCI or equivalent class as determined to be required by the facility

Responsibilities

• Assists with the implementation phase of the nursing process.
• Assists with performing the assessment phase of the nursing process.
• Assists with performing the planning phase of the nursing process.
• Assists with performing the evaluation phase of the nursing process.
• Provides patient and family education.
• Maintains a safe and comfortable unit.
• Demonstrates accountability to the nursing process through documentation.
• Develops and promotes performance improvement initiatives.
