Day Shift Position Ability to monitor resident condition and notify RN Supervisor, charge nurse, and/or physician promptly of changes in resident conditions. Notifies sponsor/next of kin according to facility protocol. Knowledge of the intended use and negative reactions of medications ordered for residents. Aware of emergency procedures of this facility in the event of cardiac arrest, diabetic reactions, airway obstruction, respiratory arrest/distress, seizures, head injuries, and fractures. Respond promptly to all emergencies. Respond promptly and investigate all alarms on unit. Follow instructions given by the RN for resident care. Ability to document medications, procedures, and resident condition per facility protocol. Ability to receive verbal and phone orders from physicians/nurse practitioner and transcribe accordingly. Communicate the needs of resident to other departments when necessary. Assist residents with activities of daily living when needed, including personal care, transfer, eating, and elimination. Competent in checking vital signs and documentation/reporting. Make rounds on assigned unit per facility protocol. Investigate all accidents and complete required forms/documentation. Report all discrepancies found with a medication, treatment plan, and physician orders. Requisition medications and supplies to ensure adequate supply. Communicate policy and safety concerns to RN or Administration for Quality Assurance purposes. Supervise care given by nursing assistants.
