The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role requires demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles, competency in nursing expertise, and the ability to perform testing to evaluate resident data. The LPN is expected to recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations, ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of residents. Key duties include contributing to resident assessments, administering medications and treatments, providing technical support to healthcare professionals, and documenting resident interactions and outcomes. The position also involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public, working as part of an interdisciplinary care team, and maintaining confidentiality. The LPN will counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans under direction, and apply resident education principles to develop self-care programs.
