Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved LPN program.
  • Must have active licensure and maintain licensure required, OR Medical Assistant certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Previous M.D. office experience or clinical work required.
  • Priority setting, application of judgment, communication skill and tact, ability to complete necessary tasks in reasonable time frames.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative, insight, and judgment in making decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Gather focused assessment data (i.e. vital signs, LOC)
  • Accurately document all vital signs observations.
  • Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as directed by physician.
  • Demonstrate skill of equipment use, specimen collection, and reading the vital sign monitor.
  • Identify and properly report abnormal findings to the supervisor and physician.
  • Practice infection control and standard precautions as trained or instructed.
  • Maintain par levels of supplies in work area.
  • Check for expiration dates monthly.
  • Assist in maintaining general medical records.
  • Schedule patient appointments and other procedures in the computer as needed.
  • Schedule outpatient x-rays and tests as needed.
