MU Health Care is looking for a compassionate and adaptable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dynamic Inpatient Float Pool team. Requirements

  • Missouri Board of Nursing LPN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state LPN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state LPNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
  • LPN IV Therapy board certification.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to record their medical history.
  • Measure and record patient vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration.
  • Prepare patient for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures.
  • Observe, chart, monitor, and report changes in patient conditions including reactions to medications and treatments. Verify that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately.
  • Under the direction and plan of an RN, manage patient care according to patient needs. Provide quality care to patients and work with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
  • Follow all safety, security, and infection control policies and procedures. Perform all tasks to ensure the safety of self, patient, and co-workers.
  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and departmental criteria to assure they are aligned with the MU Health Care Mission and Goals.
  • Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
  • Perform patient care duties and procedures following department policy, established protocol and standard of care, or as directed by the assigned RN.
  • May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
