About The Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Waterbury Hospital involves the practice of nursing as defined by the performance of selected tasks and sharing of responsibilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), or Medical Doctor (MD). The LPN will play a crucial role in patient care by assisting in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient needs. This position requires active participation in the development of patient care plans and the delegation of direct care based on established priorities and goals. The LPN is responsible for creating a safe and healthy environment for patients and documenting nursing interventions and responses to care accurately. Communication with the healthcare team regarding nursing interventions and patient responses is essential to ensure continuity of care. In addition to direct patient care, the LPN will perform various patient-related activities, including medication administration, diagnostic testing, and therapeutic treatments, all under the guidance of the Provider. Responsibilities also include managing medication renewals and prior authorizations, triaging phone calls, and following up with post-operative patients. The LPN is expected to support and participate in quality initiatives and maintain accountability for their professional competency. Critical thinking and knowledge application are vital to promote optimal patient care, and the LPN will perform related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the healthcare team and patients.
