The Unit Coordinator works closely with the Unit Manager to ensure the unit operates smoothly and safely, and acts as a resource for Nurses and Nursing Assistants. Maintain competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and development in related scope of job role or practice. Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities. Adhere to the scope of LPN practice as outlined by the MS Board of Nursing. Supervise and support the LPN and Nurse Assistant. Adapt to change and prioritize work. Demonstrate reliable attendance, reports on time and is ready to work at the beginning of shift. Complete assigned duties, willingly accept assignments, and assist others to complete work on time. Willing to support unit’s staffing needs by occasionally adjusting work schedule, staying late or working additional time. Establish a safe, supportive work environment that promotes teamwork. Core Duties: Make nursing/CNA assignments as indicated Discharge and Admission Resident Room Readiness: Post resident discharge – coordinate with environmental services for sanitization; plant operations for repairs; and nursing staff to ensure room is ready for incoming residents. Collaborate with admissions staff and nursing team to prepare room according to individual resident needs prior to arrival. Maintain timely communication with environmental services to minimize room turnaround and support efficient admissions. Assist Nursing Administration with ongoing training, education, and development of nursing staff. Promote a positive learning environment that fosters professional growth and high-quality resident care. Provide mentorship and hands-on training for unit specific procedures and standards. Completes various quality audits, logs, and checklists as assigned Assists to provide documentation oversight to ensure accurate and complete documentation of care in the medical record Promotes continuity of care by reporting activities, incidences, and changing resident needs or condition to the RN supervisor Demonstrates infection prevention behaviors, consistent hand hygiene, and use of appropriate PPE Recognizes safety risk and implements prevention plan for falls, skin breakdown and injury Communicates with residents, family members, and other disciplines or healthcare professionals as appropriate Assists to ensure compliance with standards and regulations on the unit Perform other job duties and tasks as assigned
