About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse is a licensed nursing care provider who is responsible for delivery of a full range of support services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance use and mental health) issues. LPN is primarily responsible for facilitating the maximum level of independent functioning of the clients served and demonstrates a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery and is trained and/or experienced in working with severe mental illness and/or substance abusing diagnosed individuals to assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide support services. LPN provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance use and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often times have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. LPN will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. The LPN will report to the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Practical Nursing.
  • Licensed by the state of Missouri.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the total clinical needs of the practice patients as determined by the Psychiatrist or Advance Practice Nurse.
  • Report to the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices and may also report to the Physician or Advance Practice Nurse.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices, doctor assigned to or the APN.
  • Utilize proper communication with higher level nursing and/or physician.
  • Maintain appropriate medications, maintaining logs for medication samples and other logs as deemed necessary through clinic.
  • Facilitate efficient transition of patients throughout the office visit.
  • Identify patient problems and communicate pertinent data to physician/provider.
  • Prepare accurate charts/charges and collect pertinent data.
  • Make appropriate referrals and demonstrate proper use of standing orders.
  • Ensure appropriate, accurate, and timely documentation in electronic health records.
  • Engage patients and family and assist in the education of patient’s plan of care.
  • Meet the productivity standards of the mental health office.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
