About The Position
The 80th Street Residence is seeking an LPN to join our team! We have an immediate need for Night Shift and Day Shift. We've made it this far...here's the reason Back in 1999, something extraordinary happened in New York City. The doors opened to the first and only Assisted living Community entirely devoted to Memory Care...The 80th Street Residence. Not many communities have such longevity. Over the decades, we’ve seen new buildings go up and the number of home care agencies multiply. The comparison game is real. So how is it that we have made it this far? We learned that there are well over 100 different types of dementia. Today, we confidently welcome Residents with Lewy Body’s, Parkinson’s, Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s just to name a few. Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home vital
- Familiarity with use of medication software and equipment
- Ability and desire to connect with Residents with dementia
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Good people skills, patience and compassion to work well with Residents, Families and Coworkers
- Willingness to collaborate with coworkers to discover best methods
- Openness to new methods and training
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Wellness Team and coworkers to create and maintain best Resident Care
- Assist Residents with the self administration of all medications and treatments
- Do regular rounds of all floors to assure overall well being of Residents
- Monitor and report changes in Residents' symptoms or behavior to appropriate team members
- Communicate with Coworkers, Care Managers, Physicians and Families to best provide care
- Supervise Care Managers (HHAs) working throughout the building
- Document carefully in Resident Charts to ensure proper communication
- Become familiar with NYS DOH Regulations for licensed Assisted Living Residence with Certifications for Special Needs and Enhanced Care
- Provide assistance and emotional support to Residents, their Families and Coworkers
- Recognize the possible need to work extended shift during an emergency
