About The Position

The LPN/Scrub Tech position in Labor & Delivery at Capital Health involves providing essential support during surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment, and assisting the surgical team. Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical School of Nursing Program.
• One year of work experience in inpatient healthcare.
• AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider certification.
• Licensed Practical Nurse credentials.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, including passing instruments and sutures appropriate to the procedure.
• Assists the surgeon by retracting tissue, holding instrumentation, and cutting suture under supervision.
• Establishes and maintains an organized sterile field.
• Selects proper sterilization methods for instruments and equipment, ensuring they are sterile before procedures.
• Adheres to policies and procedures in aseptic techniques and takes corrective action when unsafe practices are observed.
• Assists with pulling cases, checking case cart for completeness, and obtaining necessary supplies and equipment.
• Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on scheduled procedures.
• Follows policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and setting up the back table with the circulating nurse.
• Performs scrub assistance for all procedures and assists the circulating nurse with implementing a plan of care.
• Accounts for instruments, trays, and implants before, during, and after the case.
• Performs safety checks on equipment and troubleshoots as needed.
• Performs proper collection of blood specimens using correct protocol and technique.
• Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
