About The Position

Cedar Springs Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide and assist in the direct patient care of adults, adolescents, and children under the supervision of the Charge RN, as prescribed by the physician and the treatment team. The role involves providing medical management, safety, and program/crisis management for the patient populations. The individual must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The typical schedule will be eight-hour shifts, working 4-5 days per week. The position requires knowledge of appropriate nursing interventions, the ability to accurately administer medications, and the skill to develop therapeutic relationships with patients of all ages and cognitive abilities. Organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate creativity and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching while working with patients.
  • Full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of patients.
  • Ability to perform CPR and first aid.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle if necessary.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and be flexible in hours.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write clearly.
  • Ability to visually supervise patients/residents and respond to requests for assistance.
  • Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Vision and hearing sufficient to perform essential functions of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer one year of inpatient psychiatric experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the Charge RN.
  • Assist in medical management and safety for patient populations.
  • Work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
  • Implement special treatment procedures and supervise patients/residents.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients/residents.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate medical record documentation.
