Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides nursing care according to physician's instructions and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards, and administrative policies. Identifies residents care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual residents and other persons in a position to understand care requirements. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, friends, and families. Promotes resident's independence by establishing resident care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions. Resolves resident problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, calling for assistance from health care support personnel. Protects residents and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Documents resident care services by charting in resident records. Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Maintains resident's confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Recognizes and interprets resident's conditions based on signs and symptoms, lab work, medication regiment, and reports to appropriate person; has knowledge of the resident's conditions at all times. Promotes a team relationship with CNA's by recognizing their efforts, assisting with resident care as needed and promptly and appropriately responding to reported resident concerns. Promotes and encourages autonomy. Cooperates with other departments to facilitate care of the resident and to maintain inter-departmental good will. Providers support for the decisions made by LPN, promotes and encourages growth in the LPN role. Recognizes that LPN's act as immediate supervisors. All other duties as assigned by the Long-Term Care Director of Nursing.
