About The Position

The position involves assisting in providing clinical care to office patients under the direct supervision of a clinician or department supervisor. Responsibilities include managing clinicians' daily schedules, greeting and escorting patients, obtaining vital signs, inputting clinical information into electronic health records, and assisting with clinical procedures. The role also requires maintaining exam rooms, administering injections, answering phone calls, coordinating care, and participating in meetings for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program or an accredited school of nursing.
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
  • Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Experience with current office technology and proficient with computer applications.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in providing clinical care to office patients under supervision.
  • Manages clinicians’ daily schedule and patient flow.
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
  • Obtains relevant information and takes vital signs.
  • Inputs clinical information into electronic health records.
  • Performs medication reconciliation.
  • Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and tests.
  • Prepares and maintains exam rooms for patient arrivals.
  • Administers routine injections under physician supervision.
  • Ensures timely answering of telephone calls.
  • Coordinates care when clinicians are unavailable.
  • Acts as an advocate for patients in resolving concerns.
  • Participates in practice and department meetings.
  • Maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
  • Provides clerical support as necessary.
  • Floats to other MACC practices when required.
  • Assists with assessment of patient needs.
  • Verifies and implements clinician’s orders for testing.
  • Provides patient and family teaching.
  • Triages walk-in patients per established protocols.
  • Maintains communication with the interprofessional team.
