The Charge Nurse directs nursing care for the patients and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. This supervision is in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations governing the nursing center, and as directed by the Administrator, Medical Director, and/or Director of Nursing Services to provide appropriate care for patients. The position requires attendance beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary, and is subject to callback during emergencies.

  • Direct nursing care for patients and supervise nursing assistants.
  • Report to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Administer medications and document patient care.
  • Assist in patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Maintain effective communication with attending physicians.
  • Participate in nursing center inspections and quality assurance activities.
  • Assist in the planning and development of nursing assistant functions.
  • Provide education and demonstration for nursing assistants.
  • Complete documentation procedures on patients.
  • Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or graduate of an approved LPN program.
  • Current LPN License in the State of Georgia.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS/CPR certification.
  • Preferred experience in nursing administration.
