About The Position

A licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the direction of an RN or provider (physician, NP, PA or other APP). Specifically, this position is intended to carry out the treatments and procedures required in the outpatient departments of Erlanger Medical Group based on appropriate scope of practice and industry standards. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per their licensure. This team member is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients, support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy, behavior change and to manage the practices’ patient population. The LPN Procedure Nurse will participate in the practice’s quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure to practice practical nursing in Tennessee.
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward.
  • Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills.
  • Knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of current trends and new developments in nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the outpatient setting within an office practice.
  • Certification in the area of specialty in which they are applying.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and/or indirect care of patients under the direction of an RN or provider.
  • Carry out treatments and procedures required in the outpatient departments.
  • Coordinate care for patients and support patients/families/caregivers in self-management.
  • Participate in the practice’s quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
  • Administer pharmacological drugs as ordered.
  • Perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide post-procedure care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the life span.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret appropriate information.
