About The Position

This full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is for pediatric home health in the Fargo-Moorhead area, offering one-on-one, person-centered care for pediatric clients in the comfort of their homes. Home care nurses have the unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships and deliver focused care tailored to a single client’s needs. The LPN will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient/resident care for stable and predictable patients/residents of all ages in the home care setting.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • If position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
  • Depending on location, a valid drivers license may be required
  • Knowledge of nursing principles for the patient/resident in the relevant setting
  • Ability to perform testing to assess data reflective of the patient's/resident's status and to interpret appropriately the information needed to identify each patient's/resident's requirements relative to the age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed
  • Competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in the home care setting
  • Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing to provide patient/resident care and treatment
  • Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients/residents
  • Knowledge of patient/resident education principles to develop a self-care program
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe environment, specific to the home setting
  • Skill in administering a variety of treatments and medications as directed
  • Skill in documenting and maintaining records
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients/residents, health care providers, and the public
  • Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and follow guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Nice To Haves

  • One year of professional nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administering physician-ordered treatments and medications
  • Providing respiratory support, including ventilator care and suctioning
  • Performing G-tube feeding and care
  • Assisting with personal care and daily living activities
  • Supporting individualized therapy and exercise programs
  • Taking clients to school
  • Participating in the implementation and evaluation of patient/resident care for stable and predictable patients/residents of all ages in the home care setting
  • Demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles for the patient/resident in the relevant setting and possessing the ability to perform testing to assess data reflective of the patient's/resident's status and to interpret appropriately the information needed to identify each patient's/resident's requirements relative to the age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed
  • Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in the home care setting
  • Ensuring the health, comfort and safety of patients/residents
  • Counselling patients/residents and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans
