About The Position

To be fully engaged in providing superior quality, competitive value and outstanding nursing care with respect to patient expectations, cultural, spiritual and age specific individual needs. Provides direct patient care under the supervision of an RN.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of a practical nursing program.
  • Licensure: Current Florida LPN license or endorsement.
  • Certification: Must hold current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
  • Must hold Florida State approved 30 hour IV Certification which contains the minimum 4 hours of instruction relevant to central lines within 6 months of hire.
  • Certification(s) as required by specific unit.
  • Experience: Meets unit-specific care requirements.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates effective administration of medications and IV therapy as evidenced by: Preceptor Observation Tool and Clinical Practice.
  • Documents all nursing care, change in condition, response to therapy, treatments, procedures, and referrals on patient record to meet standards.
  • Monitors patients as per established standards. Gives patient summary reports to RN at start of shift and is responsible and accountable for reporting changes in patient status to RN throughout the shift.
  • Follows interdisciplinary plan of care, coordinated by the RN, based on current evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrates effective and safe clinical practice as evidenced by completion of annual Competency Assessment.
  • Demonstrates dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
  • Responds to call light in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes Health First computer systems for order entry, order inquiry, and patient documentation.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the healthcare team and promotes effective team functioning.
  • Provides patient, family, and/or caregiver education as directed by the plan of care.
  • Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural, and individual differences.
  • Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPs scores for department/medical center and/or written compliments by patients/others as well as consistent performance of purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report.
