The Occupational Health LPN assists in the delivery of occupational health and wellness services at Bristol Health. Working collaboratively through a team delivery process the Occupational Health LPN provides employment screening, provider patient care support, maintenance of records and medications, conducts thorough clearance processes, referral management, and communication with employers, staff and other departments.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate and graduated of U.S. accredited LPN Program
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Must have current Connecticut LPN license
  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience required.
  • BLS or CPR certification: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross will be accepted.
  • Computer and internet experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Occupational Health experience preferred.
  • Certifications in Drug Screening and Breath Alcohol Testing preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in Respirator Fit Testing, EKG Testing and Pulmonary Function Tests Preferred but not required.
  • Prior hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing for and participating in regulatory activities such a Department of Public Health, The Joint Commission, and OSHA.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community and all the companies we partner with.
  • Assist employees, workers’ compensation carrier, and providers with FMLA, light duty, limit duty, reasonable accommodation, and worker compensation claims.
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation into the EMR for all patient care; i.e.-patient interviews and history, vital signs, treatments, test results.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and organization information.
  • Follows federal and state regulations and organization policies regarding protection of patient information.
  • Assists in the modification of patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses, conditions, and as ordered by the provider.
  • Performs other duties to include recording of vital signs, audiograms, vision testing, urine collection, blood collection, spirometry, respirator fit testing, injections, basic first aid, urine drug testing, and breath alcohol testing.
  • Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure rooms are stocked with supplies.
  • Performs administrative functions, front office functions and schedules appointments as requested.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
