About The Position

Your job is more than a job. The position involves participating in the care of patients under the supervision and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Responsibilities include measuring and recording vital signs, preparing patients for examination, and observing for signs of abuse or neglect. The role also requires recognizing emergencies, performing non-complex procedures, administering medications, and maintaining medication inventory. Documentation of clinical tasks and patient information is essential, as is maintaining patient confidentiality and safety standards. The position also includes clerical support tasks such as gathering clinical documentation and managing medical records.

Requirements

  • BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Licensed to practice as an LPN in Louisiana.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the care of patients under supervision and collaboration with healthcare team.
  • Measures and records appropriate vital signs based on departmental policy and patient age.
  • Identifies abnormal values based on age and developmental level and reports findings.
  • Participates in clinic flow, assisting with patient arrival, procedures, and scheduling appointments.
  • Prepares patients for examination, treatment, and procedures.
  • Observes patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and reports accordingly.
  • Recognizes emergencies and responds appropriately.
  • Performs non-complex procedures according to clinic policy.
  • Provides for comfort needs of patients considering age and special needs.
  • Handles clinic equipment, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
  • Administers prescribed medication and/or vaccinations.
  • Collects, prepares, and secures specimens for testing.
  • Maintains medication inventory and ensures proper storage.
  • Documents clinical tasks, testing, and procedures in patient medical records.
  • Maintains privacy of patient personal health information.
  • Navigates Electronic Medical Record for laboratory and radiology results.
  • Prepares safety reports as directed.
  • Consults and keeps clinic manager informed of activities and problems.
  • Assists with compliance to safety and infection control standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement processes and projects.
  • Participates in clinic preparation by gathering clinical documentation.
  • Uses office equipment including computers and scanners.
  • Obtains medical records from outside facilities as needed.
  • Answers the telephone and routes calls promptly.
