About The Position

HealthPartners is currently hiring for a LPN/Medical Assistant/EMT within Allergy and Asthma. This position involves responsibilities for both LPN and Medical Assistant roles, focusing on patient care, documentation, and support within the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing for LPN position.
  • Current LPN licensure in Minnesota.
  • Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross required and maintained.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling.
  • One year working experience as an LPN is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED for Medical Assistant position.
  • Graduated of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR Graduate of an accredited EMT program and current EMT License.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through AAMA or AMT is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify common and recurring nursing needs of the patient.
  • Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in the ambulatory care setting.
  • Assist patients to achieve basic health care goals.
  • Identify patient education needs, provide instruction and refer appropriately.
  • Document observations, actions and patient outcomes.
  • Provide safe, accurate and clinically competent direct care to patients and families.
  • Recognize patient’s abnormalities or urgent problems and seek appropriate assistance.
  • Obtain health history information. Obtain accurate vital signs, recognize and report variances.
  • Teach techniques or provide information according to established program.
  • Accurately and appropriately document procedures and treatment in each patient’s record.
  • Appropriately communicate information to other members of the health care team.
  • Provide the patient and family with current and accurate information regarding the procedure and care.
  • Perform telephone screening under direction of RN or MD.
  • Assure patients’ rights to privacy, safety and confidentiality.
  • Maintain current practice by obtaining continuing education in relevant practice areas.
  • Maintain CPR certification.
  • Serve as a catalyst in improving standards of LPN practice.
  • Serve as a role model for technical conduct and practice.
  • Provide support to professional and technical staff.
  • Solve problems appropriately seeking assistance from members of the healthcare team.
  • Effect positive response from patients and other members of the healthcare team through interpersonal skills.
  • Room patients and complete vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements.
  • Administer medication and clinical procedures according to authorized policy and documented according to HealthPartners policy.
  • Review charts for the presence of pertinent information relevant to the patient’s appointment.
  • Provide and document any needed and requested health educational materials to the patient.
  • Handle patient and their records in a private and confidential manner per HealthPartners policy.
  • Seek medical and/or nursing assistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition.
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms and set up for procedures. Assist provider as needed.
  • Prepare the patient for medical interventions.
  • Prepare charts and records for appointments as indicated by the type of clinic visit according to established practices.
  • Check MSRs for completion and route appropriately.
  • Prepare lab, x-ray and miscellaneous forms as requested.
  • Process drug refills according to clinic protocols.
  • Monitor station logs as assigned.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate flow of communication within the clinic/location.
  • Accurately receive and relay messages and test results to the appropriate person/location.
  • Gather all necessary and appropriate information from a caller and relay information to the appropriate provider for necessary follow-up.
  • Inform reception desk of provider’s schedule status and assist in coordination of urgent and non-urgent provider schedule changes.
  • Perform patient correspondence when requested and assist patients in completing forms when appropriate.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure and OSHA standards.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas.
  • Implement other infection control procedures as needed and adhere to protective clothing requirements.
  • Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and well organized.
  • Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet as per clinic protocol.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and adequate records are kept.
