About The Position

Join our not-for-profit organization that has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors with a commitment to quality care and service in a Christian environment. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge. They utilize appropriate age and population specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan. The LPN possesses the ability to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and to provide the care needed. They ensure the health, comfort and safety of residents, contribute to the assessment of residents, administer medications or treatments as ordered, and document resident interactions as needed. The LPN is skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public, and is able to communicate clearly while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. They also counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
  • If position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board approved AASPN program or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing is required.
  • Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
  • Obtains and maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and healthcare providers.
  • Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Counsel residents and family members on prevention and treatment plans under supervision.
  • Develop self-care programs based on resident education principles.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
