About The Position
Licensed Practical Nurses assists in rendering professional nursing care to the patient in support of medical care as directed by the Nursing Services Team Leader or Physicians pursuant to the policies and procedures of EBCH. This is a full-time position that provides routine care, observes patients’ health and assists the team in the patients’ care plan. Requirements
- Graduate of accredited School of Practical Nursing.
- Licensed Practical Nursing MN License.
- BLS certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in acute or LTC.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a positive image by taking pride in EBCH, accept responsibilities, adhere to policies & procedures, and supports and follows the Mission of EBCH.
- Is knowledgeable of the Patient Bill of Rights and the Vulnerable Adult Act requirements as a mandated reporter.
- Assures HIPAA is followed, and protected health information is respected.
- Cooperates and collaborates with regulatory surveys (i.e. MDH, CMS, OSHA, etc.) when necessary.
- Communicates to families in a timely manner while a patient undergoes a procedure or treatment, explain delays, and thank them for waiting.
- Goes above and beyond ordinary care by promptly acknowledging call lights.
- Professionally performs work with integrity, honesty, diligence, and skill.
- Is a good team player by being open and honest with fellow employees and treats them with courtesy and respect.
- Maintains a good working relationship with all co-workers and the general public and uses good judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
- Demonstrates knowledge and competence in medication administration, by all routes, including IV, within established standards and scope.
- Provides physical support for patients with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
- Suggests ideas for performance improvement and barrier removal.
- Maintains flexibility in response to unexpected changes in the workload, emergencies, and/or scheduling changes.
- Promotes new ideas and adapts to change in a constructive manner.
- Ensures patients or residents receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Demonstrates knowledge and behaviors that support a safe environment (infection control, fire safety, utilities management, etc.).
- Reports any medication errors, near miss or adverse events that occur.
- Read and acts on Hospital information and communication, i.e., email, memos, communication boards, newsletters, intranet, etc.
