About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position in the General Medicine Infectious Disease Unit at the University of Alabama at Birmingham involves providing patient-centered care and support in a dynamic healthcare environment. Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program required.
• Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Depending on the unit, ACLS and/or PALS certification may be required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to care for and counsel individuals in health promotion and maintenance.
• Conduct data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, intervention, and evaluation of health problems.
• Identify patient needs using the AACN Synergy Model.
• Delegate, coordinate, and manage all aspects of nursing care provided to patients and their families.
• Deliver patient care in collaboration with healthcare team members and under the supervision of licensed professionals.
