About The Position

Join our not-for-profit organization that has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors with a commitment to quality care and service in a Christian environment. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan. The LPN possess the ability to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and to provide the care needed. The LPN demonstrates ability to recognize problems, recommend solutions and respond effectively to assist in an emergent situation.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
  • Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
  • Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.

  • Experience with IV therapy/management skills if required by the position.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health, comfort and safety of residents.
  • Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
  • Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, health care providers, and the public.
  • Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Counsel residents, family members and/or resident advocate on prevention and treatment plans.
  • Develop a self-care program based on resident education principles.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
