About The Position

Under general supervision, provides preventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility.

Requirements

  • Completion of educational requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.
  • Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact LPN License (eNLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, plan and evaluate nursing needs of assigned patients.
  • Must be knowledgeable about operating room techniques if applying for a surgery position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients.
  • Provide care according to an established nursing plan.
  • Observe changes in patient’s condition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur.
  • Provide routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement and discontinuing of oral-gastric tube.
  • Initiate and monitor oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol.
  • Suction and clean tracheotomy sites.
  • Administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal and topical medications.
  • Prepare patients for routine physical examinations and assist the physician during examinations.
  • Function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
