About The Position

This position is a practical nursing role based out of the Resource Pool at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA. The nurse will cover inpatient needs at CNRVMC, Carilion Giles Community Hospital (CGCH), and Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital (CTCH). The role involves collaborating with registered nurses and physicians to provide comprehensive patient care, including data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients of all ages. The nurse will also be responsible for administering medications, implementing treatment plans, and advocating for patients' rights.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Virginia.
• Must obtain/maintain AHA BLS-HCP certification.
• Complete Psychiatry and Behavioral Health de-escalation training within four months of hire and maintain it.

Responsibilities

• Practice practical nursing within the parameters set forth in Carilion Clinic's Plans for the Provision of Patient Care.
• Collaborate with registered nurses in collecting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient/resident care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients/residents served.
• Participate in the nursing process for patients of all ages served.
• Contribute to the development of the patient/resident database and interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Identify patient/resident/family/caregiver educational needs and incorporate them into the plan of care.
• Implement prescribed therapeutic treatment plans and procedures.
• Administer prescribed medication to patients/residents.
• Act as a patient advocate and protector of patients' rights.
• Contribute to Carilion's performance improvement activities.
• Support service area/facility/organization initiatives.
• Contribute to the orientation and career development of others.
