About The Position

The LPN Inpatient position at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital focuses primarily on the admission and discharge processes within a 27 bed acute inpatient unit that specializes in orthopedic and neuro/trauma patient care. The unit also serves as an alternate unit for urology, general surgery, and medicine patients. The role involves practical nursing under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, participating in the nursing process for patients of all ages, and contributing to the development of patient care plans. Responsibilities include administering medications, implementing treatment plans, and acting as a patient advocate.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Virginia.
• Must obtain/maintain AHA BLS-HCP certification.
• Must complete Psychiatry and Behavioral Health de-escalation training within four months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the nursing process for patients of all ages served.
• Contributes to the development of the patient/resident database and interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Identifies patient/resident/family/caregiver educational needs and incorporates them into the plan of care.
• Implements prescribed therapeutic treatment plans and procedures.
• Administers prescribed medication to patients/residents.
• Demonstrates the role of patient advocate and protector of patient's rights.
• Contributes to Carilion's performance improvement activities.
• Contributes to the orientation and career development of others.
