About The Position

MUSC Children’s Health After Hours Care Nexton is a pediatric outpatient clinic that falls under the Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC. During the day, we host a variety of pediatric subspecialists such as pediatric pulmonary, GI, endocrinology, ENT, and cardiology only to name a few. In addition to that, we provide a walk-in After Hours Care, which is a direct extension of our pediatric emergency department to serve our community during the hours when most pediatricians are closed. This position requires working three 8-hour shifts per week in afterhours, including every other weekends. Hours of Operation: • Day Clinic Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM • Afterhours Monday - Friday: 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM • Weekends & Holidays: 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program with six months of patient care experience required.
  • Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
  • A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card.
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to patient centered care philosophy as evidenced by effective communications skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and motivation to articulate and support departmental philosophy of excellent guest relations.
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be computer literate.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of LPN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice.
  • Duties to include rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, giving injections and assisting with minor procedures.
