About The Position

The position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a 34-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit at Saint Francis Health System. The unit consists of all private beds and offers a 10-12 week orientation with a nursing/patient ratio of 1:5. The LPN will administer nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on physician's orders and the nursing care plan, while consulting with registered nurses to plan patient care. The role involves performing a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties, including data collection.

Requirements

• Completed a practical nursing program or equivalent coursework approved by a state board of nursing.
• Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Licensed Practical Nurse License.
• 0 - 6 months of related experience.
• Working knowledge of general disease state management processes and clinical pathways.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.
• Detail-oriented in examining clinical and numerical data.
• IV therapy medication administration as guided by hospital policy.

Responsibilities

• Administers nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on physician's orders and nursing care plan.
• Consults with registered nurse to plan patient care.
• Performs nursing skills appropriate for the patient population.
• Gathers data, implements, and evaluates care for assigned patients.
• Takes and notes physician's orders accurately.
• Documents data on the appropriate record.
• Addresses patient problems and progress toward outcomes.
• Facilitates patient teaching and implements discharge planning.
• Makes appropriate referrals.
• Supports unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities.
• Attends mandatory in-services and meets unit education standards.
• Accurately completes variance reports.
