About The Position

Requirements

  • BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Licensed to practice as an LPN in Louisiana.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the care of patients under supervision and collaboration with healthcare team members.
  • Measures and records vital signs based on departmental policy and patient age.
  • Identifies abnormal values and reports findings to the appropriate medical provider.
  • Assists with patient arrival, procedures, scheduling, and exit from the clinic.
  • Prepares patients for examination, treatment, and procedures.
  • Observes patients for signs of abuse/neglect and reports accordingly.
  • Recognizes emergencies and responds appropriately.
  • Performs non-complex procedures as per clinic policy.
  • Provides comfort needs of patients considering age and special needs.
  • Handles clinic equipment, ensuring safety and cleanliness before use.
  • Administers prescribed medication and vaccinations as ordered.
  • Collects, prepares, and secures specimens for testing and transport.
  • Performs point of care testing per guidelines.
  • Maintains medication inventory and disposes of expired medications properly.
  • Documents clinical tasks, testing, and procedures in patient medical records.
  • Maintains privacy of patient health information and navigates electronic medical records.
  • Prepares safety reports as directed by the clinic manager.
  • Consults with the clinic manager regarding activities and problems.
  • Assists with compliance to safety, infection control, and quality improvement standards.
  • Participates in clinic preparation by gathering clinical documentation.
  • Uses office equipment including computers and scanners.
  • Obtains medical records from outside facilities when needed.
  • Answers telephone calls and routes them appropriately.
