Performs and/or delegates patient treatments as ordered by Provider and participates in education plan for patient/family.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program .
  • Current Massachusetts licensure .
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing procedures .
  • Strong interpersonal skills are to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
  • Unless certification, licensure or registration is , an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and obtain a patients basic health status, records, and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.
  • Administers medications, performs treatment as ordered , and operates equipment according to policy and procedure.
  • Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12 lead EKGs, and administers vaccinations.
  • Participates i n implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short-term goals, nursing actions , and teaching.
  • Documents patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to Provider and/or R N and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.
  • Assists provider with treatments, procedures, and special tests as or directed.
  • Communicates with patients via electronic, telephonic, and in person, per scope of practice.
  • Collaborates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Maintains a safe environment.
  • All responsibilities are essential job functions.
