About The Position

Part time LPN position at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in the Nursing Float Pool department 24 hours per week, 7:00am-7:30pm, 2-12hr shifts per week, alternating weekends, rotating holidays. Purpose: The Licensed Practical Nurse in the acute care setting provides care to patients and is responsible for performing designated tasks and responsibilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The licensed practical nurse provides direct and indirect patient care services requiring technical and manual skills, within the scope of practice, that meet the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care, and meets the communication needs of the patient and family.

Requirements

  • Completion of state approved Licensed Practical Nurse program
  • 1-2 years recent nursing experience preferred
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Prefer experience in a clinical setting
  • Basic knowledge in EMR documentation systems
  • Current and unobstructed New York State Licensed Practical Nurse License (NY Hospitals)
  • Current American Heart Association Training - BLS Required for all Nursing positions
  • Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
  • Occupational: Some occupational risk
  • Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
  • Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years recent nursing experience preferred
  • Prefer experience in a clinical setting
