About The Position

This job provides direct care (including IV therapy) to assigned patients within the framework of the Licensed Practical Nurse Practice Act under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse; directs and assists ancillary nursing staff with assigned duties; interacts with the multidisciplinary team and other personnel; exhibits professional responsibility; assumes responsibility for own practice; assists in procedures competently and professionally; skills to understand the basic principles of anatomy and physiology associated with GI procedures; and assures appropriate handling and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Requirements

  • Graduate of approved LPN training school.
  • 2 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency with advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures with working knowledge of radiation safety and image storage guidelines.
  • Current LPN License in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Endoscopy technician experience.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits effective use of the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care and while assisting physicians during procedures.
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
  • Exhibits effective communication skills.
  • Exhibits the skills to adapt to change in a positive constructive manner.
  • Exhibits responsibility for professional development and maintaining required clinical knowledge, technical skills, maintenance of equipment, training and credentials.
  • Ensures cleanliness and disinfection of endoscopes and other pertinent equipment while maintaining quality control measures.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
