About The Position

The LPN at Nationwide Children's Hospital provides technical nursing care to children and selected adult patients under the direction of an RN Care Manager. This role involves working with acute and chronically ill patients, ensuring adherence to nursing laws and standards, and contributing to a collaborative healthcare environment focused on improving patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
• Must be licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• Must complete an Ohio Board of Nursing approved medication test.
• Demonstrated competence in specified nursing care.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and documents patient/family objective/subjective data and observations.
• Reports pertinent findings to the RN Care Manager responsible for directing the patient's care.
• Follows the plan of care appropriate to the developmental level of the patient.
• Collaborates with the RN Care Manager regarding appropriate tasks/nursing interventions.
• Implements nursing interventions according to established standards demonstrating competence in specified nursing care.
• Administers and documents medications by all routes, utilizing the five rights and safety recommendations.
• Performs various IV therapy procedures, including verification of IV solutions and examination of infusion sites.
