The Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital, a tertiary care teaching hospital, is seeking LPNs for a unique position. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and within the context of the Nursing Professional Practice framework, the ED LPN will be responsible for providing care in our ED’s fast track. The ED’s fast track is a designated area that streamlines the care of patients with non-life-threatening conditions. The LPN will be responsible for collaborating within the multidisciplinary team, patient education and discharge planning, identifying changes in patient’s condition, measuring vital signs and pain scores, administering medications, etc. The LPN will provide care for a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment, allowing for further advancement of their skills and knowledge, as well as their abilities in emergency care. In addition to being one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Connecticut, HHED is also an accredited Level 1 Trauma Center, chest pain center and comprehensive stroke center, treating patients of the highest acuity in the region. Comprised of 109 beds, with the addition of a new 19 bed ED Observation Unit, HHED treats an average of 109,000 patients annually. Our nurses are renowned for thinking and acting quickly to meet the varying needs of our patients, as well as being highly skilled, flexible and resilient; with the ability to work in a team environment to provide the highest level of satisfaction to our staff and our patients.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited LPN education program.
  • Current Connecticut LPN license required prior to start date.
  • BLS certification by American Heart Association.

  • 1+ year of recent experience strongly preferred
