About The Position

Works under the direct supervision and responsibility when working in an TGHN clinic, a clinic provider or when working on a nursing unit the hospital nursing leader. Assists staff, and providers with patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks using a team-based approach in providing patient care. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the care services. May be assigned to specific medical specialty (e.g. medical/surgical, orthopedics, telemetry, and other units) to help with patient care related to that specialty or may be expected to cross-cover multiple specialties based on competency. Works closely with supervisor to assure responsibilities defined below are fulfilled in a timely manner. Essential Functions · The observation, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care · Health teaching and counseling of the ill, injured, or infirm; and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others. · The administration of medications and treatments as prescribed or authorized by a duly licensed practitioner authorized by the laws of this state to prescribe such medications and treatments. · The supervision and teaching of other personnel in the theory and performance of any of the above acts. · A nurse has a duty to provide competent care to patients. This includes clarifying work assignments with management, as well as determining and assessing her own skills, knowledge and abilities. · Providing competent nursing care also includes using informed judgment and decision making. · The professional nurse interacts and collaborates with staff, physicians, and patients regarding our programs for the reduction of Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs) and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). · Uses the Situation, Background, Assessment & Recommendation, (SBAR) format for handoff communication within the specific department and with other departments at all times, and involves the patient and family in the bedside shift report. · Critically thinks and escalates concerns as needed to meet the needs of the patient safely and timely, and works within the LPN scope of practice. · Prepares equipment and assists physicians during treatments and examinations of patients. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty or in another patient care unit as assigned by department head or nursing supervisor

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing
  • FL Practical Nurse- Issued by Florida or Compact State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale NIHSS
  • IV Certification
  • Six (6) months experience in a clinical role in a healthcare facility.
