The LPN Dispensing Nurse position at the Wichita Comprehensive Treatment Center is a full-time role within an outpatient MAT Opioid Treatment Program. The position offers early morning hours, providing a great work/life balance with shifts from Monday to Friday, 4:45 AM to 1:15 PM, and Saturday from 7:45 AM to 10:45 AM as needed. The role is crucial in assisting patients in their recovery from Opioid Use Disorder by providing safe and efficient medication dispensing under the supervision of the Medical Director or Physician. The LPN is responsible for thorough documentation of patient symptoms, responses, and progress, ensuring high-quality care in a supportive environment.

  • Works under the supervision of the Medical Director and the Clinic Director.
  • Maintains practical nursing professional standards of care.
  • Prepares and administers medication as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physician accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate accounting of all medication received (from supplier) and dispensed (to the patients).
  • Charts medication administration in nurse's notes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Documents nursing care provided, and maintains appropriate records related to patient's progress and activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, and ADP.
  • Dedicates a minimum of 90% of regularly scheduled work hours to activities directly related to the administration of medication; the remaining 10% will be dedicated to other activities as assigned.
  • Responsible for urine collection and processing, reading test results as ordered by Program Physicians and the completion of all forms involved in these procedures.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Prefer 1 year of nursing experience in behavioral health, outpatient treatment program, or addiction recovery field.
  • No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three years before employment.
  • Current LPN/LVN license in the state of Kansas.
  • Previous nursing experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities.
  • Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including the safe handling, administration, and documentation of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
  • Experience in medication dispensing, monitoring patient dosing, and observing for adverse reactions or medication interactions.
  • Understanding of nursing best practices related to substance use treatment, including trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of medication administration records (MARs), patient vitals, and incident reports in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., DEA, 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards) related to controlled substances and patient care.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, counselors, case managers, and support staff, to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
