About The Position

The LPN Dispensing Nurse position at Shelbyville Comprehensive Treatment Center is a per diem role within an outpatient MAT Opioid Treatment Program. The nurse will work varying days and hours on an as-needed basis, primarily during morning and early afternoon shifts. This role is crucial in providing compassionate and efficient medication dispensing to patients recovering from Opioid Use Disorder. The position offers a lower stress environment, with no heavy lifting of patients and stable shifts focused on medication administration.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Prefer 1 year of nursing experience in behavioral health, outpatient treatment program, or addiction recovery field.
  • No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three years before employment.
  • Current LPN/LVN license in the state of Kentucky.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nursing experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
  • Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including safe handling and administration of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
  • Experience in medication dispensing, monitoring patient dosing, and observing for adverse reactions.
  • Understanding of nursing best practices related to substance use treatment, including trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements related to controlled substances and patient care.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the supervision of the Medical Director and the Clinic Director.
  • Maintains practical nursing professional standards of care.
  • Prepares and administers medication as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physician accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate accounting of all medication received and dispensed.
  • Charts medication administration in nurse's notes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Documents nursing care provided and maintains appropriate records related to patient's progress and activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, and ADP.
  • Dedicates a minimum of 90% of regularly scheduled work hours to activities directly related to the administration of medication.
  • Responsible for urine collection and processing, reading test results as ordered by Program Physicians.
