About The Position

The Brattleboro Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is seeking a part-time LPN Dispensing Nurse to join our outpatient MAT Opioid Treatment Program. This role involves providing compassionate, high-quality, safe, and efficient medication dispensing to patients recovering from Opioid Use Disorder. The position offers flexibility in scheduling, with hours from Monday to Friday, 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and weekends from 5:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The LPN will work under the supervision of the Medical Director and Clinic Director, ensuring adherence to professional standards of care while maintaining accurate documentation and reporting of patient progress.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Prefer 1 year of nursing experience in behavioral health, outpatient treatment program, or addiction recovery field.
  • No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three years before employment.
  • Current LPN license in Vermont.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nursing experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities.
  • Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including the safe handling, administration, and documentation of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
  • Experience in medication dispensing, monitoring patient dosing, and observing for adverse reactions or medication interactions.
  • Understanding of nursing best practices related to substance use treatment, including trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., DEA, 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards) related to controlled substances and patient care.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, counselors, case managers, and support staff, to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the supervision of the Medical Director and the Clinic Director.
  • Maintains practical nursing professional standards of care.
  • Prepares and administers medication as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physician accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate accounting of all medication received (from supplier) and dispensed (to the patients).
  • Charts medication administration in nurse's notes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Documents nursing care provided, and maintains appropriate records related to patient's progress and activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, and ADP.
  • Dedicates a minimum of 90% of regularly scheduled work hours to activities directly related to the administration of medication; the remaining 10% will be dedicated to other activities as assigned.
  • Responsible for urine collection and processing, reading test results as ordered by Program Physicians and the completion of all forms involved in these procedures.
