About The Position

The Outpatient Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) is seeking a full-time LPN Dispensing Nurse to join our team at the North Wilkesboro Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), part of Acadia Healthcare's network. This position offers a structured schedule with hours from Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, and occasional Saturdays from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. The LPN will play a crucial role in the treatment and recovery of patients dealing with Opioid Use Disorder, providing safe and efficient medication dispensing under the supervision of the Medical Director or Physician. The role emphasizes compassionate care and thorough documentation of patient progress.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Prefer 1 year of nursing experience in behavioral health, outpatient treatment program, or addiction recovery field.
  • No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three years before employment.
  • Current LPN license in the state of North Carolina, or compact license.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nursing experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities.
  • Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including the safe handling, administration, and documentation of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
  • Experience in medication dispensing, monitoring patient dosing, and observing for adverse reactions or medication interactions.
  • Understanding of nursing best practices related to substance use treatment, including trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of medication administration records (MARs), patient vitals, and incident reports in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., DEA, 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards) related to controlled substances and patient care.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, counselors, case managers, and support staff, to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the supervision of the Medical Director and the Clinic Director.
  • Maintains practical nursing professional standards of care.
  • Prepares and administers medication as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physician accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate accounting of all medication received (from supplier) and dispensed (to the patients).
  • Charts medication administration in nurse's notes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Documents nursing care provided, and maintains appropriate records related to patient's progress and activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, and ADP.
  • Dedicates a minimum of 90% of regularly scheduled work hours to activities directly related to the administration of medication; the remaining 10% will be dedicated to other activities as assigned.
  • Responsible for urine collection and processing, reading test results as ordered by Program Physicians and the completion of all forms involved in these procedures.
