About The Position

Kettering Health is a not-for-profit system of 13 medical centers and more than 120 outpatient facilities serving southwest Ohio. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license.
  • 1-year clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting.
  • Current Ohio LPN license.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in physician practice and use of electronic medical records preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and HIPAA regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists and delivers patient care duties under the direction of the provider and/or practice manager.
  • Provides administrative support and supervision throughout the practice.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in patients' charts.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Cross-trained to perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of delivery of patient care.
  • Prepares patients and exam rooms for provider consultation.
  • Takes medical history and vitals.
  • Schedules appointments (e.g. lab, x-ray).
  • Explains processes to patients.
  • Assists providers in special procedures (including minor surgery).
  • Removes sutures, cleans wounds, and applies dressings.
  • Notifies patients of lab results and gives shots and immunizations.
  • Observes patients prior to, during, and following administration of treatment.
  • Authorizes and dispenses medications as prescribed by provider.
  • Ensures smooth progression of patient schedule, working with practice team to assure smooth patient flow.
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines for all patients and family members.
  • Participates in regulatory compliance and quality management initiatives/activities while maintaining fiscal accountability.
  • Serves as a resource to staff on patient care and clinical policies and procedure issues.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients, the practice, the hospital, and community resources.
  • Manages schedules, time and attendance, provides daily coaching and support.
  • Collaborates with practice manager and assists with corrective/disciplinary discussions/actions.
  • Provides input on performance evaluations.
