Under direction of Registered Nurse and medical orders of the Practitioner, provides direct and indirect nursing care in outpatient setting. The role involves reviewing and preparing medical records for assigned patients, initiating follow-up for medical records as requested, and identifying and preparing orders for patient needs for authorization by the practitioner. The position requires observing, collecting, and documenting new information on patients, and informing the RN or practitioners regarding incomplete data or abnormal observations. Basic nursing procedures are implemented per the plan of care, including administering treatments, immunizations, and medications as prescribed. The role also includes performing point of care testing, providing laboratory and x-ray reports to practitioners, and notifying patients of normal results as directed. The position requires consideration of special needs of different age groups when providing care and setting priorities based on patient acuity. Documentation of orders and interventions is essential, as well as observing patient responses and collaborating with the RN or practitioner to revise care plans when necessary. The role also involves assigning basic nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel and ensuring compliance with established standards and protocols. Additionally, the position includes managing patient vaccine data, facilitating vaccine inventory control, and ensuring compliance with health plan and federal guidelines.
